The first time I met Pastor Andy is when my brother got married. Pastor Andy seemed very open and was a “different” kind of pastor – very friendly. When I met him, I never thought I would need his services or talk to him about anything. It was nice that my whole family met him at that time, and we (my husband, 3 sons, and I) got along very well with him. We ended up going to another wedding that Pastor Andy presided over, and it was a destination wedding, so we got to get to know him even better.
My family lives in Northern California, but even though Pastor Andy lives in Southern California we still sought him out for help for family/marriage counseling, and he was willing to work with us. He spent a lot of time with us, whether in person or on the phone. I also got to spend some time talking with his wife Lisa, and she kindly gave me one of her books. Pastor Andy also gave me an audio cd and I listened to it in the car.
Later on my family experienced an unexpected tragedy as my oldest son passed at 24. We didn’t want to have a typical funeral, but we wanted to do a Celebration of Life. We knew we could’ve picked someone locally to do the service, but we felt the whole family was comfortable with him, and that younger people would identify with Pastor Andy better. Pastor Andy took time to talk with us, and we were grateful that he was willing to take time out of his schedule to come all the way to Northern California. His son Jason also sang a special song and played guitar for the ceremony that I picked out.
I appreciate all the time that Pastor Andy and his family took to help us. I am very glad to know that we can always talk to Pastor Andy anytime.
